We love nothing more than receiving the beloved “Manual Spam Action Revoked” message in Google Webmaster Tools after working hard to get a valued client’s manual penalty lifted. There is very little in life more satisfying than seeing those four words (well, at least for us…).

Manual Spam Action Revoked, but penalty is still there.

A question we often receive after notifying clients and slapping high fives all round is:

“Why is the penalty still listed in Google Webmaster Tools?”

If you’re reading this post, you’re probably asking the same question – you’ve received confirmation of the penalty removal, but you’re still seeing it listed under “Manual Actions”.

Manual action penalty still there after removal

Well, the good news is that this is completely normal. Google typically takes 24-72 hours to remove the message within the “Manual Actions” section of Google Webmaster Tools. Simply check back in a few days and it should all be cleared up. There’s nothing you need to do on your side – don’t submit another reconsideration request.

But, Its Been A Week Already!

If the manual action is still listed after a few days, feel free to get in touch with us and we’ll have a look at it, free of charge.
